Girl Scout Treasurer Accused Of Stealing $88,000 From Troops

Patricia Cascione

A California woman who volunteered as the treasurer for the Girl Scouts has been arrested after authorities say she stole $88,000 from various organizations over the past five years. 52-year-old Patricia Cascione was taken into custody in her home and is facing charges of grand theft and theft by false pretense.

Officials opened an investigation into Cascione 15 months ago and discovered that she had stolen $58,000 from the bank accounts of various Girl Scout troops in the area. During their investigation detectives from the fraud and cyber crimes unit also found evidence that Cascione had also embezzled $30,000 from the Beverly Hills Cancer Center where she worked as the organization's Chief Financial Officer.

Authorities believe that she may have stolen money from other organizations as well and are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have.
